PLEASE NOTE THAT MANY DATES HAVE NOT BEEN INCLUDED. DUE TO THE NECESSITY OF LAST-MINUTE CHANGES IN PAST YEARS, THE BOARD HAS DECIDED TO ANNOUNCE THESE DATES AS THEY BECOME FIRM.

 

JANUARY

Again we rest during January to recover from a busy year and holiday season. Snowbirds are enjoying the warmth of the south and the rest of us are shivering in our homes waiting for:

FEBRUARY

Sunday, 21st, 1:45 p.m.

Stained Glass Theater, The Miracle Worker, with optional dinner to follow at the Green Derby restaurant.

MARCH

Saturday, APRIL 3rd

Duveneck Purchase Award pieces on view at the new Boone County Library with a tour of that facility. The entire 35-piece collection will be on exhibit there during the month of April. (This will count as the March Program)

APRIL

(CANCELLED. MAY BE RESCHEDULED SOMETIME DURING SUMMER.) Kentucky Horse Park visit with a tour of the new facilities for the International Horse Show.

MAY

The Duveneck Memorial Art Show

Duveneck Whistling Boy

Our annual Art Show in George Rogers Clark Park:
The Duveneck Memorial Art Show began in 1969, and to emphasize the historical purpose of the NKHL, the Duveneck Purchase Award was established. The award required that the work be an original structure or landmark in the Greater Cincinnati which was over 50 years old Since that time more than 30 works of art have been purchased and are displayed in Kenton County Public Libraries, primarily at the Erlanger Branch. This collection represents some of the best local artists in the region.

JUNE

Saturday, 12th

Guided walking tour recalling the Gangster Era in Newport.

JULY

Date and time to be announced.

Tour of the new Turkeyfoot Elementary School, designed by NKHL Board Member Andy Piaskowy.

AUGUST

Wednesday, 18th

Communications month will again find us meeting at Fort Mitchell Country Club for another interesting program featuring our own media personality, Allen White.

SEPTEMBER

Sunday, 12th

This year’s neighborhood event will be in Lebanon, Ohio, with a home tour and train ride, followed by dinner at the Golden Lamb.

OCTOBER

Sunday, Monday, & Tuesday

Our overnighter will be in Benham, Kentucky, at the School House Inn. The highlight of this event will be a visit to the Kentucky Coal Mine Museum and a walking tour into the exhibition Mine.

NOVEMBER

Date and time to be announced.

Tour of the new Kenton County Jail—our opportunity to be the first “inmates”!

DECEMBER

Thursday, 9th, 6:15 p.m.

The Annual Meeting and Christmas Program at Fort Mitchell Country Club.
